KAADAI FRY ( QUAIL FRY)

Non-vegetarian dishes with mutton, chicken, fish and eggs are common in Tamilnadu for lunch and dinner. Some delicacies like quails, duck fry, gravy etc are made now and then on a special occasions. Quails are reared as a business venture as their meat is loved by many.

Kaadai Fry

I give below a recipe for making Quails fry.

COOKING TIME: 45 minutes.
SERVINGS: 3

INGREDIENTS :

  1. Quails : 5 no
  2. Cinnamon : 1 Tiny piece
  3. Cloves : 2
  4. Aniseed : 0. 5 Teaspoon
  5. Cumin : 0.75 Teaspoon
  6. Pepper : 0. 75 Teaspoon
  7. Coriander Powder : 1 Teaspoon
  8. Chili Powder : 1.5 Teaspoon
  9. Ginger Garlic Paste : 1 Teaspoon
  10. Turmeric Powder : 0.50 Teaspoon
  11. Onion : 1
  12. Curry Leaves : 3 Sprigs
  13. Oil : 2 Tablespoon
  14. Salt : 1 Teaspoon
  15. Water : 0.5 Cup

METHOD:
Cut the Quails each into 4 parts and wash them thoroughly many times. Chop the onion and keep it aside. Marinate the quails with Chili powder, Ginger Garlic Paste, Turmeric Powder and Salt for at least 2,3 hours. Powder the items from 2 to 7 ( Cinnamon, Cloves, Aniseed, Cumin, Pepper and Coriander powder) in a blender well and keep them aside. In a Pressure Cooker cook the marinated quails with half a cup of water giving 2,3 whistles. The quails should not be completely cooked. Keep a frying pan over medium flame and pour the oil. Fry the Chopped Onion and add the curry leaves. Then the powdered masala along with the cooked quails can be added. Reduce the flame and cook over low flame for 15 minutes turning the pieces well.
